COSMETIC PROCEDURE
FACE
Botox is a facial injectable that is used to temporarily reduce or eliminate facial wrinkles. It is a cosmetic form of botulinum toxin type A, and helps to eliminate or reduce wrinkles on the face. Botox is most commonly used to treat forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eyes), and frown lines.
During your appointment at the Women's Institute of Cosmetic & Laser Surgery, you will be examined by a qualified register nurse (RN) in order to determine what your goals and expectations are with this procedure. You will also learn about the risks and complications that are associated with Botox and the expected results. Our staff is happy to answer any questions you may have regarding your options with facial injectables.
As with any cosmetic procedure, there are potential risks involved. Some of the rare complications that a patient may experience include:
The most common side effects include swelling, bleeding, pain, bruising, muscle weakness, numbness, and redness; however, these usually subside after a week.
Botox may be performed in an office-based facility, an outpatient surgery center, or a hospital.
The physician or RN will use a fine needle to inject Botox in the desired location(s) on the face. No anesthesia will be required, and the patient will be able to return to regular daily activities immediately.
Patients will see results within a few days following treatment. These results generally last four to six months, at which point you may need to return for additional Botox injections, if you would like longer-lasting results.
