Blepharoplasty - Eyelid Surgery

In order to remove excess fat along the skin and muscle around the upper and lower eyelids, an individual may choose to undergo eyelid surgery ("blepharoplasty").

What will eyelid surgery do for me?

It will brighten up your face
It will provide you with a rested and youthful appearance
It can improve vision if sagging skin is in the way of upper eyelids and is prohibiting peripheral vision
It may decrease but not eliminate the wrinkles around the eyes, "crow's feet". (There are other facial cosmetic procedures for these conditions.)

Who is a good candidate for blepharoplasty?

Someone who is physically healthy

How is blepharoplasty performed?

Eyelid surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia (the portion being operated on is numbed) and a light intravenous sedation. This is an outpatient procedure performed in either an office setting, outpatient surgical center, or for severe cases, a hospital.

After surgery

Bruising and swelling is temporary, approximately two weeks. The scars are barely visible after a couple months since. The incisions are placed within the creases and folds of upper eyelids.
